

A sprinkling of snow awaited the anglers taking part in this latest round of the Central Trains winter league. With many of the participating anglers travelling from Birmingham, the weather was responsible for a very disappoiting turn out with just four anglers attending.
Winner on the day was Jim Clewes, who drew peg 16 on the dam wall. Pole fished pinkie over ground bait at 9m resulted in a winning weight of 81-07-00, and an easy victory.
Second place went to David Lightowler, who drew peg 4 on the point of the island. Dave opted for a pole and pellet approach but struggled to find the fish only weighing in a disappoiting 14-05-00 from a usually very productive peg.
Third place was taken by Tony Davies, who drew the "caravan peg". Tony opted to fish the method feeder with pellet on the hook, but struggled to the find carp only weighing in 13-12-00.
Steve Prior finished in last place struggling to make double figures on his favoured chopped worm approach.

Just nine anglers attended this late booked club match on Woodside pool. Conditions were terrible with a strong cold wind battering the complex and cold driving rain making the ambient temperature feel a lot colder than in recent days.
Winner on the day was "Mocka" McDermot. Drawing peg 13 on the dam wall, "mocka" opted to fish the tip with sweetcorn to take carp up to 8lbs weighing 33-04-00 and doing just enough to finish ahead of second place man Alf Bates.
Alf Bates finished close behind in second place with 30-15-00 from three pegs up on peg 16 fishing maggot to take a mixed bag of silver fish and small carp.
Third on the day was Billy Drew. Billy drew the "caravan peg", but managed just 15-00-00.

Ten anglers attended this lastest private syndicate match on the Woodside pool. With temperatures remaining incredibly mild for the time of year the carp and F1's were in the mood and were on the feed.
Winner on the day was Paul Savings, who drew peg 8 behind the island, beneath the oak trees. Fishing the pole at 13m and alternating between pellet and sweetcorn on the hook, he managed to put together a fine bag of F1's and proper carp to weigh in 55lbs exactly, winning by a healthy margin.
Second on the day went to Iwan Mills. Opting to fish the pole, again at 13m with both corn and pellet, he too put together a good mixed bag of carp and F1's to weigh 37-14-00 from peg 15.
John Halfpenny finished in third place from peg 4 weighing in 36-02-00 of carp caught on pole and pellet.

Freezing cold conditions made for a difficult match with only small carp and silver fish prepared to have a go. Fourteen anglers braved the cold for a closely contested match.
Winner on the day was R. Britton who weighed in 27-07-00 at the end of the five hours pole fishing red maggot.
Close behind in second place was M. Price who finished with 26-09-00 of carp to nearly 12lbs.

Mallard AC used their own peg numbers
A small turnout of five anglers attended this latest round of the Central Trains Winter League series. Given the cold conditions, the fish were shoaled very tight, which reflected in the weights.
Winner on the day was Jim Clewes, who drew peg 17 on the dam wall. Opting to fish the method feeder he weighed 50lb of carp and F1's to secure victory, winning by a comfortable margin over second best man Steve Prior.

Winner on the day was Mark Wilson, who drew peg 9 on the dam wall. Fishing a maggot feeder, Mark weighed in a satisfactory 21-01-00 to win a closely contested field.
Scott Garrington finished in second weighing in 16-03-00 from peg 16. Scott fished maggot on the long pole to catch predominately silver fish with a few bonus F1 hybrids.
Rounding off the frame was Paul Brookes from peg 12. Paul also opted to fish the maggot feeder to weigh in 13-11-00.

Due to Woodside Pool being frozen, this latest private syndicate match was moved to the Island Pool. With temperatures approaching -7deg;C, bites were always going to be difficult to come by.

B. Drew finished close behind in second place just 2oz short with 15-14-00 from peg 1.

Winner on the day was M. McDermot from peg 24 on the dam wall with 39-12-00 of small carp and F1 hybrids on pole fished sweetcorn.
A. Bates finished in second place with 29-06-00 from the next peg along on number 25, again on sweetcorn.
Rounding the frame off was B. Drew from peg 8 with 14-09-00.
The big perch continue to come out of the Island pool with another 3lb plus specimen being caught today.

Fourteen anglers from the Black Boy attended this latest club match on the Island pool. The club were originally due to fish Woodside pool, but due to weights having tailed off in the last couple of weeks, the decision was made to move the match on to the Island pool.
Winner on the day was I. Perrins who weighed in a 34-01-00 mixed catch all caught on pole fished red maggot.
J. Wright finished in second place weighing in a total of 24-00-00 fishing a maggot feeder.
Third on the day was G. Yeomans with 19-01-00.

The Black Boy A/C used their own peg numbers
Eleven anglers from Wolverly Angling Club attended this latest club match on the Island pool. The club was due to fish Woodside pool, but due to how difficult it fished the day before, the club opted to fish the Island pool instead.
Winner on the day was S. Garrington, who drew peg 2 on the dam wall. Opting to fish red meat at 11m over a bed of fishery feed pellet he managed a respectable 48-07-00 of mainly carp with a few silverfish to win by a big margin.
P. Garrington finished in second place from peg 17. Again, opting to fish with red meat, he weighed in 23-07-00 at the end of the five hours.
Finising close behind in third place was L. Taylor with 20-06-00 from peg 22.
