Fishery Rules

In order to protect the well being of both fellow anglers, and the surrounding wildlife, the fishery asks that you abide by the following rules.

  1. BARBLESS hooks only barbed hooks can cause damage to fish and are strictly forbidden
  2. No fish to be handled in rags or towels this can transmit disease and is strictly forbidden!
  3. Please take your litter home with you. Bins are NOT provided we work hard at Woodside to maintain the banks and will not tolerate any kind of litter. Litter can also attract vermin
  4. Do not throw unused bait on to the banks this will attract vermin. Please take any left over bait home with you or dispose of it in the pools
  5. No keepnets (except in matches) minimal use of a keepnet helps maintain fish welfare
  6. Maximum 50lb of fish in one net an excessive weight in one keepnet will damage fish and possibly kill fish
  7. Minimum of two keepnets per angler in matches small silver fish and carp are not to be placed in the same keepnet as carp and larger fish will damage the smaller fish
  8. Fishery landing nets and keep nets to be used only. Keepnets and landing net heads loaned during matches require a £30 deposit, which will be refunded upon all nets being returned to fishery management after the match this is to minimise the risk of disease spreading between fisheries
  9. No fish to be swung in by hand this can cause unncessary damage to fish
  10. Groundbait allowed through open-ended / method feeders or pole pots only. Groundbait is NOT to be introduced by hand ground bait can only be introduced in this manner to help regulate the amount of bait introduced per angler
  11. Fishery pellets must be used for loose feed. Any commercially available pellets allowed on the hook the fishery stipulate the use of on-site pellets for loose feed to ensure no illegal or advantageous baits are being used
  12. No bloodworm, joker, trout pellets, boilies, liquidised bread, macaroni cheese, hemp or nuts the use of these baits is strictly prohibited. They will foul the water and, in some instances, harm the fish if not prepared properly
  13. Only fish-friendly rigs are to be used. Fixed rigs are not permitted UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES fixed rigs can result in lost fish still being attached to leads / bombs, feeders, etc, which can cause a great deal of stress and ultimately prevent the affected fish from feeding
  14. No braid braided line can cause damage to fish
  15. No bite alarms allowed bite alarms are completely unnecessary on a complex the size of Woodside, and cause great irritation to other anglers
  16. Do not leave tackle and / baited lines unattended tackle may be lost in the pools as a result of fierce takes. We will not be responsible for recovering tackle lost in this way.
  17. Fish from designated pegs only NO wading or placing platforms in the water unless agreed with the fishery management
  18. No fish to be removed from the pools or moved from one pool to another fish stocks are not to be tampered with under any circumstances
  19. Do not interfere with vegetation or wildlife any act of vandalism or mistreatment of fishery property will not be tolerated under any circumstances
  20. Do not hold fish aloft when taking photographs dropping fish from more than a few inches above the ground can injure and even kill. Please be careful when handling fish on the bank
  21. No junior anglers under the age of fifteen are allowed without a fishing adult in the interest of responsible angling, we must insist that anyone under the age of 15 is accompanied by a fishing adult
  22. No dogs, fires or radios dogs, fires and radios are stricly forbidden by fishery management. Dogs foul the banks, fires are not permitted under any circumstances and radios prove a nuisance to other anglers
  23. Please use designated parking area parking is not permitted on the grass
  24. All anglers must possess a valid NRA license random checks are performed by environment agency staff without our knowing. It is within your own interest to make sure you have your NRA license with you

Anglers fish at their own risk. Woodside Fishery will not accept any liability for personal injury or damage to or loss of tackle.

Please note that the management reserve the right to refuse admission and to change the rules at any time. Any angler found to be in breach of the rules above will be asked to leave the premises immediately. Please show courtesy to fellow anglers.

Additional Information

Fishery feed pellets are available at £1.50 per bag.

Parking is available close by all of the pools.

A toilet is available on site and is kept open at all times.

Also, please note that one pool will always be available for pleasure anglers in the event of a match.
