Open Match, Woodside Pool

Updated: Sep 24, 2023

Ten (10) anglers attended this Saturday open match held on Woodside pool. Conditions on the day were extremely hot with the mercury nudging thirty degrees celcius. Needless to say, fishing on the day was not great, but everyone still managed to catch.

Topping the field was John Palfrey, who drew peg 13. Fishing the majority of his match long down his right hand edge offering corn on the hook over a combination of groundbait and fishery micro pellet, John found a good stamp of fish to weigh in a decent 79-11-00 on a very difficult day.

Second place was taken by Lee McKnight, who drew peg 20. Lee got off to an absolute flier with three fish after the first four put ins mugging with pellet, but the fish soon backed off. Lee struggled for the majority of the match after that, but to did manage a spell of decent-sized carp from down his left hand edge on maggot to weigh in 44-09-00.

Third place on the day went to Chris Hall, who drew peg 15 on the dam wall. Opting to fish paste short and down his edges, Chris managed a modest 42-14-00 to finish just ahead of Scott Moore.
