Nine (9) anglers attended their first of two match fixtures here at Woodside this year. Conditions for this latest event marked a stop to the torrential rain over the previous twenty four hours, but with all the rainfall and sudden change in the weather again on the day of the match, the fishing was difficult. That said, although weights were below average for the time of year, it was a closely contested match with little separating the top three on the day.
Topping a tight field was Richard Reid, who drew peg 12. Opting to fish corn and paste down his edge, Richard found mainly carp with a handful of roach, rudd and skimmers to weigh in 69-14-00.
Second place went to Paul Hardiman from peg 3. Starting his match fishing a feeder over to the island, he was able to find odd fish patrolling the far side margins before a switch to his inside edge with corn rewarded Paul with some bonus fish seeing him offer 61-00-00 to the scales.
Third place on the day was taken by Kevin Smith from peg 6 close to the pads. Fishing pellet and paste short and later down his edge, Kevin found some good quality fish to weigh in 49-03-00.
