Nine (9) anglers from BJAC attended their first of two matches here in 2025. Conditions on the day were much cooler than in recent days with some heavy showers also making an appearance. Despite the lower temperatures, however, air pressure was still extremely high and the resident carp stocks were not in the mood as a result. That said, despite weights being lower than anticipated, it was still a close and fair match.
Winner on the day was Richard Read, who drew peg 17 on the dam wall. Like many, Richard struggled to find carp with just a handful of fish gracing his net. However, by concentrating on targeting the silvers he had in front of him with corn and caster, Richard was able to put together an impressive catch of roach, rudd and skimmer bream recording over 17lb of them. With his carp, Richard offered a final 35-00-00 to the scales to confirm a narrow victory.
Finishing close behind in second place was Pete Hardiman from peg 1. Pete caught most of his fish down his edge on pellet to weigh in 26-12-00 of mainly carp with skimmers and roach inbetween.
Concluding the top three finish on the day was Dave Worrell from peg 5 in the channel close to the island. Opting to fish both worm and pellet hookbaits down his edge, Dave was able to find a handful of carp as well as a smattering of silverfish to weigh in 26-08-00.
