A small turnout saw just five (5) anglers from Brandhall Conservative attend their latest contest here at Woodside. With temperatures holding at a pleasant 20°C - 22°C, the resident carp, once again, were in spawning mode with numerous fish cruising in the upper layers showing very little interest in anglers baits. All around the island and underneath the pads, carp could be seen thrashing around a little over an hour into the match, which lead to very low weights on the day.
Winner on the day was Giuseppe Ancampora, who drew corner peg 12. Fishing pellet and corn down his edge, he was able to put together a modest 29-04-00 of carp to top a difficult day.
Finishing in second place was James Tayor from peg 15. Again, corn and pellet down his edge accounted for just a few fish giving him a final weight of 19-07-00.
Paul Newey took third place from peg 20. Fishing corn over dead red maggot down his edge accounted for 14-04-00.
A very difficult days fishing when the carp clearly had other things on their mind!
