Eight (8) anglers attended this Saturday club match on Woodside pool. Conditions, although a little cooler, were still hot and sticky and the resident carp could be seen cruising on the top. However, as has been the case for the last few weeks, fish in the upper layers showed little interest in feeding with most anglers catching fish late on down their edges.
Winner on the day was Rob Smith, who drew peg 1. Fishing a method feeder down his edge with wafters, Rob found a good stamp of fish to weigh in 72-05-00 of mainly carp with a few roach and skimmer bream.
Second place went to Gerry Rush from peg 16 on the dam wall. Opting to fish dead red maggot down his edge, Gerry weighed in a double-figure catch of roach and skimmers plus a good number of carp for a final 60-06-00.
Third place on the day was Alec Southall, who drew peg 10 on the point of the island. Again, fishing dead red maggot down his edge, Alec finished the match with 53-03-00 of mainly carp.
