A small turn-out for the Golden Maggot saw just five (5) anglers in attendance for our final club fixture of the 2025 season.
Winner on the day was Lawrence Connolly. Loz made no mistake from favoured peg 2 and demonstrated a master class in how to fully optimise your short line offering a massive 200-12-00 of carp to the scales. Loz fished maggot on a top kit plus two to wobble the current lake record (which currently stands at 204-14-00) as well as the club match record and was kicking himself at the end after admitting to losing around 30lb of fish during the five hours. Still, a really impressive weight which gave him a very comfortable match win!
Finishing in second place was Josh Gaunt from peg 9. Josh started his match offering maggot short to take an impressive near 20lb bag of silvers before switching to his edge late on with pellet to enjoy a decent run of carp before the final whistle. Josh ended the match with 68-10-00.
Third place went to John Tibbetts, who drew peg 11. Fishing expanders over fishery micros down his edge, John ended proceedings with 56-11-00.
