Halesowen CC, Woodside & Island Pools

Twenty one (21) anglers from Halesowen Cricket Club lined the banks of both Woodside and Island pools for this latest club match.

Woodside pool

Woodside pool continues to fish hard with back-up weights being well below par.

Winner on the day was Mark Jones on peg 11. Fishing maggot shallow on the pole, Mark put an impressive bag of quality roach and rudd together before switching to his edge late on with maggot and pellet to find carp to 11lb. Mark weighed in a final 66-00-00 to confirm a comfortable victory.

Finishing in second place was Grant Price from peg 7. Fishing dead maggot down his edge, Grant ended proceedings with 25-03-00 of mainly carp with odd silvers.

Third place on the day was taken by Terry Foyle from peg 17. Again, dead red maggot down his edge accounted for the majority of his modest 18-03-00 catch.

1st M. Jones, Peg 11, 66-00-00, Maggot shallow & pellet / maggot in the margins

2nd G. Price, Peg 7, 25-03-00, Dead maggot in the margins

3rd T. Foyle, Peg 17, 18-03-00, Dead maggot in the margins

Island pool

Island pool also fished hard on the day despite a recent run of form leading up to the match. A good winning weight recorded by Steve Worton was the only standout catch amongst disappointing backup weights.

Steve drew favoured peg 19 close to the island and opted to fish maggot down his edge from the off to find carp throughout the match to weigh in 106-13-00.

Finishing in second place was Mark Collins from peg 12. After a slow most part of the match, Mark switched to his edge late on with maggot to find some late bonus fish to weigh in 44-01-00.

Third place was secured by Martin Dunn from unfancied peg 6 on the dam wall. Enduring a bitterly cold head wind, Martin threw caution to the wind halfway through his match and managed to find some quality fish short on pellet and paste to weigh in 37-14-00.
