Halesowen Cricket Club, Woodside Pool

A small turnout of just nine (9) anglers attended this latest club match on Woodside pool. Conditions on the day started off very cold with a chilly wind making things feel more like autumn than spring! As the day wore on, however, temperatures gradually started to climb and carp could be seen cruising around in the upper layers and grubbing in the margins, but weren't overly on the feed.

Topping the field on the day was Scott Rhodes, who drew peg 3 close to the point of the island. Scott started on the pellet waggler to find odd fish, but the carp were reluctant to stray too far from the safety of the reeds so Scott switched to a short line where he feed chopped worm and casters to find roach, rudd and skimmers. During the final stages of the match, Scott switched to his margins where he fed corn and micros to his left and worm over dead maggot to his right to find a few carp, but given the number of fish down his edges, it proved a frustrating final last hour or so. Scott finished the day with 67-13-00.

Finishing close behind in second place was Gary Harris, who drew peg 21. Opting to fish the majority of the match concentrating on his margins fishing tight to the norfolk reed with 6mm pellet Gary found some good sized carp to 9lb to weigh in a final 63-02-00.

Rounding off the top three was Terry Foyle from peg 5. Fishing the first half of his match shallow with caster, Terry found quality roach and rudd in numbers before switching to his edge late on where he found carp. Terry offered 35-08-00 to the scales, which included over 20lb of silvers to finish just ahead of fourth placed Paul.

Paul Ashford weighed in 31-09-00 of silvers and carp from peg 9 with carp falling to 6mm and 4mm pellet whilst the skimmers were taken on corn.
