Twenty two (22) anglers from Halesowen Royal British Legion attended this Sunday match held across both Woodside and Island pool. Conditions for this latest contest were warm and muggy with the carp, on Island pool at least, beginning to spawn. However, heavy frequent showers at various intervals in the match kept temperatures from reaching silly numbers and helped keep ambient pressure low, which helped the fishing.
Winner on the day was Paul Evans. Paul drew peg 1 on Woodside pool and opted to fish caster down his edge feeding aggressively from the go. As well as a decent number of quality roach and odd skimmers, Paul also got amongst the carp finding fish to around 6lbs in numbers to offer 73-00-00 to the scales.
Taking runner-up spot was Malcolm Merrick, also drawn on Woodside pool. Starting his match fishing short at 6m with maggot and corn from peg 12, Malcolm found carp and silvers before switching to his edge late on to find some decent sized fish to boost his weight. Malcolm finished the day with 64-04-00.
Finishing close behind in third place, and winning Island lake from peg 20, was Lee Cowlan. Lee fished most of the match offering 4mm expander on the hook over groundbait to take an all carp catch tipping the scales at 64-00-00.
