Sunday 6th August 2023 saw Tight Lines AC angler Darren Davis set a new match weight record on Woodside pool with a massive weight of 208-10-00!!!
Darren drew peg 3 close to the point of the island during the club's second fixture of 2023 and fished paste over fishery micro pellet to fish arguably the match of his life finding big carp in numbers down his edge from the word go. Darren managed to keep good sized fish coming to the net for the full five hours, with the exception of a brief twenty minute spell where the fish seemingly backed off, before returning for another feeding frenzy.
Darren has been in great form so far this year amassing numerous ton-plus weights at a number of local venues, but never before has he broken the two hundred pound barrier - until now - and we're delighted he now has bragging rights to that accolade after his performance here.
Speaking to Darren before the weigh in, he said "I've had a brilliant day, but I just hope I haven't gone over in any of my nets"!
Darren was first to weigh in and had five (5) keepnets ready to go.
Fishery Manager Ben said "it was obvious he would be confirming a big weight upon getting to his peg, but I don't think any of us expecting him to weigh over 200lbs".
The previous match weight record on Woodside pool has stood since 2016.
