Nine (9) anglers from Metal Closures braved what was a pretty grim forecast for the club's first fixture of the year at Woodside. The day started off a little damp, but the weather soon brightened up shortly after the match got underway. However, the final hour of the match saw the weather change quite dramatically with torrential rain and thunder blighting what had otherwise been a relatively pleasant day.
Topping the field was Kim Hunter, who drew peg 15 on the point of the island. Fishing corn down his right hand edge tight to marginal cover, Kim found mainly carp averaging 2-3lb a piece to put 95-11-00 on the scales and confirm a comfortable victory.
Second place was taken by Graham Poulton from fancied peg 1. Fishing paste long down his left hand edge towards the stick ups, Graham found all carp to weigh in 66-07-00.
Finishing close behind in second place from peg 14 was Adam Lees. Fishing pellet shallow, Adam found quality roach and rudd among the carp to weigh in 65-15-00.
