A small turnout saw just three (3) anglers from Metal Closures attend their penultimate match here of the club's 2026 season. Conditions for their latest fixture were generally mild and partly cloudy with a typical early August-feeling high of around 20°C.
Winner on the day was Kevin Round, who drew fancied peg 2. Fishing pellet and corn on his short line, Kevin was able to catch steadily for the duration of the match to end the day with 118-02-00.
Finishing close behind from neighbouring peg 3 was Martin Davies. Fishing paste short Martin found carp in numbers, including some good stamp fish. However, at the weigh in, Martin was found to have gone over the limit on one of his nets, which resulted in the net being disqualified. This ultimately cost Martin the win with his final weight confirmed at 113-08-00.
Third place on the day was taken by Fred Westwood, who drew peg 4. Alternating between paste and pellet hookbaits, Fred managed 34-01-00 of silvers and small carp.
