Ten (10) anglers from Oak Tree Angling attended their first match here at Woodside on the Island pool. Conditions were a little cooler than the Saturday, but temperatures were still very nearly thirty degrees. Again, like the day before, the net limit was reduced to 40lbs down from 50lb, small silverfish were returned to the water immediately and carp were divided equally across three nets instead of the usual two. Despite the far from ideal conditions, the standard of fishing on the day was relatively good all things considered.
Winner on the day was Jamie Wood, who drew peg 12 opposite the island. Jamie opted to fish a banded 4mm pellet on the hook whilst feeding 4mm's over the top to take most of his fish on the drop. Jamie put together an impressive catch of mix-sized carp to offer 92-12-00 to the scales.
Finishing close behind in second place was Gavin Lee, who drew unfancied peg 7 in the middle of the dam wall. Gavin fished an extremely tidy match starting on 4mm pellet up in the water before switching to his edge late on with paste to weigh in a superb 90-02-00.
Concluding the top three finish on the day was Dave Shiner from peg 2. Having produced over 100lb of fish the day before, it was unlikely to produce an equally impressive weight for a second day running. That said, Dave fished maggot short on rod a line incorporating a centre pin reel (which was really nice to watch) to weigh in a decent 68-10-00.
