Open Match, Island Pool

Seven (7) anglers attended this latest open match on the Island pool. A damp, cold start made way for brief sunny spells before the rain moved in midway through the match. All in all, a pretty miserable day weather wise. That said, the fishing wasn't too bad considering yesterday's frost and heavy rain overnight.

Winner on the day was Sam Cadman, who drew peg 12 opposite the island. Starting his match on maggot down his edge, Sam found a few carp despite a slower than expected start before the fish started to back off a little. Switching to 4mm expander over fishery micro pellet at 5m, Sam was soon back among the carp finding fish to around 5lbs to weigh in a level 67-00-00 on his first visit to the venue.

Second place went to Dave Male. Dave drew peg 13 and went for an all out carp attack fishing paste down his edge to find some decent fish. Upon the scales making their way round the lake, Dave confirmed 49-12-00.

Third place was secured by Derek James from peg 4 on the dam wall. Derek caught the majority of his fish on pellet down his edge to weigh in 26-04-00 of small carp and a handful of roach and skimmers.
