A small turnout saw just five (5) anglers attend this Saturday open match held on the Woodside pool. After a cold start, bright sunshine in the afternoon made for a pleasant autumnal day but the fishing was difficult.
Clear winner on the day was in-form local rod, Dave Bowyer. Dave drew unfancied peg 17 in open water on the dam wall and started his match fishing the feeder long over to the island. After an unproductive start, however, Dave switched to pellet down his edge and found a few carp willing to feed to put 77-10-00 on the scales and win the match by a big margin.
Second place was taken by Ken Hayes on peg 19. Concentrating on maggot short and down his edge, Ken adopted a fish for anything that swims approach to end the match with 34-00-00 of carp, skimmer bream, roach and perch.
Steve Walsh finished in third place from peg 1. Steve struggled for most of the match but managed to find some carp down his edge late on with dead maggot to weigh in 28-09-00.
