Open Match, Woodside Pool

Nine (9) anglers attended this Sunday open match held on the Woodside pool. Again, heavy rain made its presence known, with frequent heavy showers throughout the day making things feel relatively chilly compared to temperatures earlier in the week.

Winner on the day, and increasing his winning streak to two wins out of two, was Mick Jones. Mick drew peg 18 and opted to fish both pellet and dead maggot down his edge to maintain a steady catch rate for most of the match. Mick managed a number of quality fish, including a handful of double-figure specimens, to weigh in 84-11-00.

Second place was taken by another in-form local rod, Dave Bowyer. Dave drew peg 10 on the point of the island and also caught mostly down his edge on dead maggot and pellet. Dave caught well throughout the match, but couldn't match Mick's stamp of fish, to offer a final 79-13-00 to the scales.

Rounding off the top three finish was Derek James from peg 14. Despite being a little way off the pace, Derek fished a tidy match catching carp and a handful of silvers fishing maggot over fishery micros down his edge to weigh in 37-07-00.
