Open Match, Woodside Pool

Eight (8) anglers attended this Sunday open match held on Woodside pool. Conditions on the day started very similar to the day before, but as the day wore on, bright sun warmed those anglers lucky enough to be pegged directly in it, but the resident carp didn't respond as expected with many anglers enduring long spells of inactivity between fish.

Winner on the day was Dave Bowyer, who drew fancied peg 9 close to the point of the island. Alternating between pellet and maggot hook baits, Dave had a great start to the match and was looking likely of putting together a massive weight managing around 50lb just an hour in. However, the fish then backed off for a good part of the match before Dave got among them again down his edge to finish the match with 71-10-00 of carp.

Second place was Dave Martin from peg 3 on the opposite point of the island. Dave caught most of his fish from down his edge after opting not to go long to the island to weigh in 30-10-00 of roach, perch and half a dozen carp all taken on soft hook pellet fished over fishery micro pellet.

Third place on the day was Mick Jones from peg 13. Mick had a tough day but managed to find some fish down his edge on pellet to weigh in 27-06-00 of silverfish and a handful of carp.
