Open Match, Woodside Pool

Twelve (12) anglers attended this latest open match ran and organised by Mat Linforth, which saw a very strong field line the banks of Woodside pool. That said, despite the strong field, it was very much a match of two halves with most anglers enjoying a productive opening couple of hours before an unexpected pressure change saw the fish back off completely for the final ninety minutes or so.

Winner on the day was John Newton (Smithys), who drew unfancied peg 18. With the warm weather bringing the resident carp up in the water, John started his match mugging cruising fish with 6mm pellet before following the fish down in the water to depth at 13m to offer 73-12-00 to the scales.

Second place on the day was taken by Hasbury AC rod Richard Fox. Foxy drew peg 13 on the dam wall and offered paste over fishery micro pellet to weigh in 50-10-00 of quality fish.

Third place went to Mat Linforth, who drew peg 16. Again, like John, Mat started his match targeting cruising fish with 6mm pellet before switching to his edge late on with worm over dead maggot to weigh in 35-02-00.
