Six (6) anglers attended the first of a handful of opens we will be running here during the month of September. Conditions on the day were extremely warm with plenty of cruising fish in the upper layers.
Winner on the day was Dave Bowyer, who drew peg 15 on the dam wall. Opting to fish a combination of dead maggot and pellet down his edges, Dave found carp in numbers to a decent size to end the match with 131-01-00.
Second place on the day went to Josh Gaunt. Making his debut from peg 12, Josh listened to local knowledge and chose to fish corn over fishery micro pellet to find lots of small carp to weigh in 77-08-00.
Last of the mainframe positions went to Ken Hayes, who drew peg 20. Again, corn over fishery micro pellet accounted for most of Ken's fish offering 65-13-00 to the scales come the end of five hours. Ken books his place in next year's Match Angler Of The Year final.
