Eight (8) anglers attended this latest Friday afternoon open match held on Woodside pool. Conditions for this latest open were a little bit cooler with plenty of cloud cover, which helped take most of the heat out of the sun. The carp continue to feed in extremely shallow water, which is making them quite tricky to catch depending on where angler's draw.
Winner on the day was that man again - Dave Bowyer. Dave, who is enjoying an incredible run of form, drew corner peg 6 by the lily pads and opted to fish pellet down his right hand margin to find mostly carp alongside some quality roach and rudd. Dave ended the match with a winning 73-14-00 to finish narrowly ahead of Ken Hayes on peg 21.
Ken fished expanders down his edge to find some quality fish to offer a decent 68-03-00 to the scales to take second place and end a decent few days of fishing having framed in two other matches at other venues earlier in the week.
Third place was confirmed by local man, Dan Bache. Dan drew peg 13 and got off to a great start but, unfortunately for Dan, he wasn't able to hold the fish ending the match with 48-03-00 of carp taken on maggot fished over groundbait.
