Open Match, Woodside Pool

A small turnout visited the fishery for this first open of 2021 and the first competition since Covid-19 restrictions had been eased. Unfortunately, conditions on the day made fishing difficult with a touch of overnight frost followed by bright sunshine in the afternoon.

Winner on the day was local rod Dave Male from peg 10 on the point of the island. Fishing 6mm banded hard pellet down his edge and short on just a top kit, Dave found carp, F1s and quality roach to weigh in 30-02-00.

Finishing in second place was Dave Brain from peg 17 on the dam wall. Dave caught at 11m on pole fished expanders as well as a few fish on soft pellet on the waggler before enjoying a late run of small carp and silvers down his edge to offer 22-06-00 to the scales.

Rounding off the top three was Craig Gayden from peg 21. Fishing maggot and 4mm pellet down his inside lines, Craig struggled to find the carp, but instead caught quality silvers to weigh in 9-11-00.
