Rally Together Fundraiser, Woodside Pool

Twelve (12) anglers attended this charitable fundraiser held in an effort to raise funds for the fishery management's daughters home ed tennis club.
It was another difficult day on Woodside pool with the resident carp showing little interest in anglers baits and, instead, choosing to cruise around the lake in pairs in the upper layers enjoying the sun off their backs and likely making plans to begin spawning very shortly (if the weather continues).
Winner on the day was Dan Hart, who drew peg 8. Opting to fish pellet shallow tight to the island on the long pole, Dan didn't waste any time in getting among the carp on a peg he knows well and managed to maintain a steady catch rate for most of the match. Dan's long line did eventually switch off a little, so he came down his inside late on with paste to find a couple of better stamp fish to weigh in a final 81-00-00.
Finishing in second place from peg 3 close to the point of the island was Robin Shaw. Robin started his match fishing hard pellet short, but after a relatively uneventful first two hours, Robin decided to switch to paste down his edge, which produced considerably more fish to give him a final 56-06-00.
Third place on the day went to Richard Fox, who drew corner peg 6. 'Foxy' caught on paste short to end the day with 40-13-00, although a handful of lost fish potentially cost him the runner-up spot.
All in all, it was an enjoyable day, which saw the fishery raise £170 for a very worthwhile cause. Thank you to everyone who took part and for making the event possible. It meant an awful lot to all of us - especially our girls.
