A small turnout saw just five anglers from UK Angling attend this Saturday club match on Woodside pool. With ideal conditions and with so few anglers around the pool, the standard of fishing was excellent with nearly 500lbs of fish caught between the top two anglers!
Winner on the day was Gary Meredith who drew fancied peg 3 close to the point of the island. Opting to fish meat and corn down in the margins, Gary found carp in numbers to catch well for the duration of the match. Gary offered a massive 275lbs to the scales at the end of the match, breaking the previous match weight record set earlier in the year by Scott Rhodes at 192lbs 15oz.
Finishing in second place was Ian Wakelin from neighbouring peg 5. Again, concentrating on his margins, Ian offered corn on the hook to find quality carp in numbers to weigh in 203-00-00.
Third place on the day was taken by Darren Pedley. Opting to fish meat on the method feeder short, Darren again found carp willing to feed in numbers to end the match with 168-00-00.
Adam Jones finished in fourth place with 61-08-00 of small carp.
