A small turnout saw just seven (7) anglers from Brandhall attend this Sunday club contest on Woodside pool. Numbers were a little down on account of a large number of anglers that normally attend being away on holiday. That said, the extra room produced an extremely close match with very little daylight between the top three on the day.
Winner on the day was Paul Newey, who drew peg 1. Not normally an area known for its match-winning capabilities, it has chucked up a couple of times now in recent weeks with Paul taking full advantage of its recent form. Fishing 6mm pellet down his edge over fishery micros and casters, Paul found some superb roach and good-sized carp to weigh in 76-13-00 to take a narrow victory.
Finishing close behind in second place was Richard Taylor, who drew peg 12. Fishing red maggot down his edge over maggots and casters, Richard found mainly carp with some decent roach and perch to weigh in a final 73-14-00 to just miss out on the top spot.
Third place went to James Taylor from peg 3 on the point of the island. Fishing pellet and corn down his edge, James found mostly carp with a few good roach and skimmers to offer 68-00-00 to the scales.
