Seventeen (17) anglers attended this latest Saturday open match held across both Woodside and Island pools. Conditions on the way were pretty hot with the mercury nudging mid twenties, but a welcome breeze resulted in a decent ripple which saw cruising fish willing to feed.

WOODSIDE

Winner on the day on Woodside pool was Chris Shumer, who drew peg 10 on the point of the island. Opting to fish hard 6mm pellet up in the water long over to the island at 16m, Chris put in a shift and slapped for the full five hours to catch carp for most of match. The final hour slowed a little for him with a switch to his edges producing just one fish before another look on his long line produced a few more before the all out. Chris offered 120-14-00 to the scales to confirm a comfortable win and qualifies for the Match Angler Of The Year final next March.

Second place was taken by Roger Tomes from corner peg 6 by the lily pads. Roger caught carp up in the water and later on paste down his edge to weigh in 63-10-00 booking his place in next year's Match Angler Of The Year final in the process.

Scott Banks secured third place from permanent peg 8 with 60-14-00. Scott caught most of his fish late down his edge on paste to finish the match strong and secure his place in next year's Match Angler Of The Year final.

ISLAND

Winner on the day on Island pool was Dan Hart. Dan drew in form peg 2 and made no mistake in capitalising on his draw with a superb 145-03-00. Dan enjoyed a hectic days fishing and caught small ' stockies' for most of the match on paste down his edge, only slowing down in the final hour when the fish started to back off a little, to confirm an impressive victory with a number of good anglers also on good pegs.

Second place was TREC ACs Chris Hall. Chris drew peg 11 and, again, caught most of his fish down his edge on paste to weigh in an equally impressive 122-02-00 to continue his good run of form here at Woodside over the last several weeks.

Finishing in third place was Garbolino Midland Match man Mat Linforth. Mat drew peg 15 on the point of one of the islands and went for an all out silverfish attack with catsers and maggots. However, it wasn't long before the resident carp muscled in and gave Mat a final weight of 87-11-00 taken on casters shallow and maggot short.
