Open Match, Woodside Pool

A full house saw ten (10) anglers attend this Bank Holiday Monday open match on Woodside pool. Conditions began quite cool with plenty of cloud cover but, as the match progressed, the sun made an appearance and things warmed up.

Winner on the day was Dave Bowyer. Dave drew peg 19 among the norfolk reed and fished a superb match alternating between his left and right hand edges to put together a superb bag of quality fish. Dave caught most of his fish from down his right hand edge on sweetcorn to weigh in 132-15-00 to record a match win and the largest weight of the season so far from Woodside pool.

Second place was taken by Worcester-based rod, Dan Hart. Dan drew peg 3 and caught on a variety of methods including pellet waggler, bomb & pellet to the island and down his edges, but struggled to get the fish to settle. That said, Dan put in another great performance recording a 102-07-00 effort.

Third place on the day was taken by Worcester Angling Centre's Gary Hickton from peg 6 by the lily pads. Gary caught most of his fish on a small method feeder fished over to the island before coming down his left hand edge late on to weigh in 32-09-00 to sneak into the mainframe after an angler on the opposite bank had exceeded the weigh limit on one of his nets.
