Silvers League RD1, Woodside Pool

Updated: Nov 4, 2023

Unseasonably warm weather greeted anglers for the opening round of this year's winter league series, which began on Woodside pool. With the series being a silverfish only event, carp do not count towards anglers final weight despite a number of anglers with feeding fish down their edges before the match had even started. However, despite all competing anglers catching carp at various stages during the match, most were able to put a decent number of silverfish together resulting in a close top three finish on the day.

Winner on the day and going into an early league lead was CARRS AC rod, Jeff Rush. Jeff drew peg 1 and opted to fish maggot shallow and to depth down his right hand edge for most of the match to find quality roach, rudd and skimmers as well as odd tench to weigh in a superb 28-08-00.

Finishing close behind in second place was Josh Gaunt, who drew peg 10. Fishing maggot shallow, Josh found good stamp roach and rudd to weigh in an equally impressive 27-05-00 to finish just ahead of neighbouring Dan Hart.

Dan fished worm and maggot shallow and to depth short from peg 12 to put together a good sized net of skimmers and roach to offer 24-08-00 to the scales.
