Twenty one (21) anglers attended this debut fundraiser event for the British Stroke Association. The event was organised and ran by the Maver Central team with all proceeds from the day - peg fees and angler donations - going to the Stroke Association. Originally touted as a teams of three event, and then a pairs event, match organiser Terry Pincher decided to run the match as a standard singles event on the morning of the match with final placings between determined by way of total weight across both lakes.
Conditions on the day, although a bit of a mixed bag, were pleasant with prolonged bright and sunny spells, but with a stiff breeze, which helped create a decent ripple spreading the fish, making for a fair match.
Winner overall on the day was Ash Bosworth, who drew peg 3 on Woodside pool. Ash opted to start his match fishing paste short at 5m to find decent fish in numbers before switching to his edge late on with dead maggot to find carp to 10lbs. At the end of the five hours, Ash weighed in an excellent 107-11-00 to finish comfortably ahead of the chasing pack.
Second place overall on the day was taken by Dillon Johnson from neighbouring peg 6 in the corner by the pads. Dillon started his match fishing pole and pellet over to the pads to return a decent number of small carp and decent silvers before having a look down his edge late on, again with pellet, to find some better stamp fish. Dillon ended the match with 77-15-00.
Finishing close behind in third place on the day was Matt Green, who drew peg 2 on Island pool. Matt spent a good chunk of the match mugging cruising fish with pellet before alternating maggot and corn hookbaits down his edge to find some better quality fish to weigh in a final 77-06-00.
Fourth place was awarded to Craig Watkiss from peg 9 on Island pool. Craig started his match shallow and managed a couple of early fish, but they didn't settle so he soon changed tactics and caught the majority of his fish short on just a top kit with maggot feeding maggot over the top. During the final throws of the match, Craig went long down his edge to the next peg alternating between maggot and corn hookbaits over gorundbait and fishery micros to end the day with a respectable 65-05-00 from a difficult peg.
Finally, finishing close behind Craig in fifth place overall was Dave Crampton. Dave drew peg 3 on the Island pool and opted to fish shallow with pellet to take odd fish for the forst three hours. Later, he came down his right hand edge and offered corn over fishery pellet to end the day with 63-01-00.

All in all, it was a great match which raised over £300 for the British Stroke Association, of which, £140 was donated by the lads from the Maver Central team. A fantastic gesture!

Thank you to everyone that took part and made the event happen. A special thank you to the Maver Central team, who not only organised the event, but who also put forward the majority of the anglers for the event. A great effort from a genuinely decent bunch of lads.
