The weather is on the turn with overnight temperatures rapidly heading south. That, coupled with bright sunshine during the day, made for difficult conditions over the course of the weekends matches. This Saturday contest saw anglers from Halesowen Cricket Club pegged across both Woodside and Island pools.
Winner on Woodside pool was Chris Newton, who drew in form peg 3. Opting to fish meat shallow at 14.5m for the full five hours, Chris found mainly carp to weigh in a level 103lbs more than doubling the weight of second placed Ken Pitts.
Ken drew peg 14 on the dam wall. Alternating between corn and maggot hook baits he managed to find carp here and there to end the match offering 50-10-00 to the scales.
Dean Gardner secured third place from peg 23. Targeting individual fish up in the water, Dean spent most of his match 'mugging' fish up in the water to weigh in 42-02-00.
Fourth place on the day went to Louis Worton from peg 11 who weighed in 30-10-00 with nearly all of his fish coming late on down his edge to maggot.
