Nine (9) anglers attended this first mid-week three-hour evening match here at Woodside. Conditions on the day were extremely hot with temperatures reaching an uncomfortable 32 degrees. Cloud cover had kept things feeling cooler than forecast for most of the day but with around ninety minutes to go before the match went ahead, the clouds parted and temperatures began to soar! The standard of fishing, unfortunately, did not match up to expectations as a result, which was unfortunate but not surprising.
Winner on the day was Dave Bowyer, who drew peg 13. Dave started his match fishing shallow, but quickly realised that the cruising fish he had in front of him were not feeding fish. A switch to maggot and pellet fished down his edge resulted in a decent run of fish, which saw Dave offer 63-00-00 to the scales at the end of three hours, despite losing seventeen (17) fish.
Finishing in second place was Chris Hall from peg 5 in the channel close to the island. Chris caught carp shallow on pellet and then later down his edge on paste to weigh in a modest 36-07-00.
Third place on a difficult day was Simon Bowen from peg 16 on the dam wall. Opting to fish corn over groundbait down his edge for most of the match, Simon found good quality fish - just not enough of them - to weigh in 28-05-00.
