Twelve (12) anglers from Wordsley Lions AC attended this Saturday club match held across Woodside and Island pools. Conditions were ever so slightly cooler with the threat of rain lingering for most of the match, but it never came. Instead, during the second half of the match, things felt extremely humid and muggy as if the weather was going to change, but it blew through on the back on some quite strong gusts of wind.
WOODSIDE
Winner overall on Woodside pool was Roger Pierce, who drew peg 6 on the corner by the lily pads. Roger started his match fishing over to the pads, but was struggling to get the carp out of them so switched to his edge. Offering pellet short down his right margin, Roger found a good stamp of fish to weigh in 94-02-00 of carp.
Finishing in second place was Gary Starr, who drew peg 9. Fishing corn down his edge, Gary offered 71-09-00 to the scales at the end of the five hours to finish ahead of third placed Ken Hayes.
Ken drew peg 13 and fished pellet down his inside for most of the match to weigh in 61-10-00 of mostly carp.

ISLAND
Winner overall on Island pool was Dave Bowyer. Dave, who has won the last two Friday afternoon matches here, continues his run of form by not only winning the lake on the day, but also breaking the previous match weight record on the Island pool offering a massive 204-14-00 to the scales. Fishing pellet shallow down his left hand edge on peg 14, Dave caught carp for the duration of the match aside from a single silverfish to run away with the match leaving the rest of the field trailing behind.
Second place was awarded to Carl Griffiths on peg 17. Carl had a difficult day and struggled to get the fish down his edge to feed with any degree of confidence. The fish he did manage to connect with gave him a proper work out really putting his gear to the test, which unfortunately resulted in lost fish and a broken number three section to add insult to injury. Fishing pellet over to the island, Carl had to settle for a modest 53-15-00.
Finishing in third place on the day was Neil Rock, who drew peg 3. Fishing pellet down his edge, Neil finished the day with 28-15-00 of quality roach and rudd as well as a few carp.
